This aircraft and engine manufacturer made the “Stahlherz”, a copy of the French Gnome (see Gnome and Stahlherz).

-Stahlherz, in German it is “heart of steel”. A wider range of powers was made, as we will see later.

From Appendix 9: Hans James Schwade was the son of founder Otto Schwade. As an aviation enthusiast, he obtained his pilot's title in 1910. He manufactured airplanes based on the Farman and improved Gnome rotary radial engines. They were in the range of 50 to 160 CV.

-He called the rotary radials “Sthalhertz” (in German), or “Steel-Hearted” (in English) or “Corazón de acero” (in Spanish).

-One of those obvious improvements was the installation of superchargers in this type of rotary engines.

-It seems that he also installed his compressors on a Mercedes D.IIIa. As an interesting fact, it is mentioned that when the engine rotates at 1,400 rpm, the compressor impeller rotates at 10,500 rpm, maintaining power up to 3,500 meters of altitude. It appears to have been installed on a Gotha G bomber.
