(New Zealand / USA)

ROCKET LAB. LTD engine specifications

Rocket Lab Ltd was founded in New Zealand in 2006 and is dedicated to advanced projects, including rocket propulsion. In 2013 the company moved to the USA.

This company has made a very economical liquid fuel rocket motor due to the fact that the fuel pumps do not rotate by the impulse of gas generators but by electric motors.

-Therefore it has powerful Lithium Polymer batteries.

-The name given to this engine is that of Rutherford, a New Zealand scientist of great prestige.

The Rutherford engine was intended for the launcher of the same brand with the name "Electron".

-This engine has been successfully tested by the company, running on LOX and RP-1 (kerosene). The electric motors used are DC and brushless.

-It is offered with nozzles for "sea level" (short) or "vacuum" (high altitudes, with a long nozzle).
