In 1935, employees of the Soviet Air Force Experimentation Center designed a tremendously original 24-cylinder V-engine. It was planned to give 600 hp.
“Pavlyuchuk-Burov project” (PiP)
-The opposite twin cylinders of each line of the V were facing each other.
-These were twins using a single chamber with only two valves: intake and exhaust for both.
-The two crankshafts were interconnected by the gearbox for the propeller.
-But the most amazing thing is how they solved the passage for the two inner connecting rods of this original mechanism.
-It used "mother" connecting rods and small rods to solve the confrontation of the entire assembly. It is all beautiful.
