The engine made by Steve Manthey was one with barrel-type oscillating plates, that is, with the pistons horizontally around the drive shaft.

-This schematic drawing is the one that appeared in PopMech as a novelty.
-The engine is named OX-2, it is said to have only three moving parts.
-It has eight cylinders that rotate while cylinder heads and cam plate remain fixed.

-In the United States it caught the attention of the University of California, but finally the one who has carried out the construction of this engine has been Advanced Engine Technologies. It is currently (2010) at level 3 of development, which is the one shown below.
