In 1944, the Manchester Astronautical Association already designed and published a probe rocket for "cosmic investigations".

-They used liquid fuels and the design was basically the same as the current engines. It would run on liquid oxygen and petroleum and the tanks were pressurized with nitrogen, that is, fuel feed was under pressure.
