W. G. Jopson of Manchester designed and built an engine with two horizontally opposed cylinders by 1912.
It was a small engine that gave only 1 hp at 1,500 rpm but with development capacity and at least four diameters of larger propellers.
-Although it seems that the construction was carried out by Cook and Co. in Cheshire.
