Aerospace Engines A to Z

Updated: 25-Jul-2019

Apart from the design and construction of the turbines at OKB-117 (Gunpp Zavco Imeni V. Ya. Klimova) that we have seen in the Isotov chapter, S.P. Izotov made the rocket engine S2.1100 during the years 1955-60. It was a 4-combustor cluster.

The rocket engine on the LK-700 vehicle is from Izotov. It has one combustor, and was built between 1966 and 1969. This engine delivered a thrust of 13.4 tons in vacuum.

-Another engine is the SD.423 on the second stage of the UR-100 shuttle vehicle. This one gives 13.7 tons of vacuum thrust for 326 seconds.

-Another engine with a vernier control device and four 6-ton chambers, was used between 1963-67.

-The last three groups mentioned used the same N2O4/UDMH fuel.
