PI. Ivanov manufactured solid rocket engines through the RNII, or "Institute of scientific research on reaction." By 1946 he made probe-type solid rockets of several stages to measure different values such as cosmic rays upto an altitude of 40 km.

-The engine used on that occasion was the RS-132. There were 4 trials of which 3 failed.
