ILAT stands for IL Aerospace Technologies. It was founded by Dov Chartarifky to develop means for obtaining reusable space tourism.

-It has six other members in the team, all of them experts in some of the necessary branches.

-In 2002 ILAT enters into the X-Prizes competition with its Negev 5 vehicle powered by a rocket engine of 11,200 lbf of thrust and running on solid fuel and liquid oxidizer fed by tank pressurization.

-The fuels were HTPB (Hydroxyl Terminated Poly-Butadiene) and LOX (Liquid Oxygen) oxidizer.

-The solid fuel is molded inside the engine body (combustion chamber) and the oxidant in liquid state is stored in a separate tank.

-The LOX is injected into the chamber, so controlling the flow of it will control the engine thrust.
