The Granit Machinery Construction Design Office was founded in 1945 as the OKB-45 by V. Klimov and A.A. Mikulin.

-In 1982, it became part of the "Saturn" group (Lyulka).

-This group currently manufactures the R15B, AL-7 and AL-21 engines that are the most powerful in Russia.

-Granit designed small engines for APU groups and for vehicles without RPV controls, cruise missiles, etc. One of the first for this use was the MD-45.

“Granit MD-120”

-The current products are:

-The MD-120 of simple design (certain semblance to a Turbomeca), is a pure single-shaft turbojet engine that delivers 264.6 lbf of thrust (1,175 Kw).

“TVD-150”

-The TVD-150, is a new turboshaft version, of simple design as well and with inverted flow. It has a free power turbine.

-With a propeller it only delivers 150 CV and weighs 50 kg.

“TVD-400a”

-The TVD-400 is known as a derivative of the MD-120. Its core is being used to develop turbofans, turboprops and turboshafts. It is used for all kind of applications.

-As a free-turbine turboshaft (version "a") it has a mixed axial and centrifugal compressor with an annular combustion chamber and a simple compressor turbine. The power to the shaft is 400 CV.
