In 1883, an engineer left behind a remarkable aviation job. It was A. Goupil, building and testing an airplane of 27 square meters.

-The device had 6 meters of wingspan and a length of 8 meters. In the center there was a steam engine.

-The engine was air cooled, although it was intended for the propulsion of armored tanks.

-An engine of own design was the Vang, of cylinders in line and whose main characteristic was that it had sliding valves. (See another engine with this system in the main text). And of course, the engine is reproduced in the Vang chapter (see).
