A water-cooled engine with eight upright cylinders inline.

Motor Gaggenau
“Gaggenau”

-The camshaft was on the head and the engine was started by crank, as required. It had a single magneto, and was destined for airships. See Süddeutsche Automobilfabrik.

From Appendix 9: The main text shows the eight-cylinder airship engine in line. We have two more views, a top and a front one.

-The front part has the transmission shaft to drive the camshaft located at the cylinder heads. There are also two magnetos.

-From Gaggenau there was also a four-cylinder aviation engine. It had a curious valve head at one side only.

-Remember that Gaggenau is the town and also the name by which this brand is known sometimes. (In some texts it appeared as Gaggenhau).  The name of the company is actually "Süddeutschen Automobilfabrik". (See).
