The "Fabrique Nationale Herstal SA" located precisely in the city of Herstal-lez-Liege, has the division of aero-engines in that location.
The total group was known as the "Fabrique Nationale d'Armes de Guerre (FN)", and in the streets we have seen their interesting motorcycles as well.
-The company had a lot of experience in the construction of piston engines before entering the era of jets in 1949.
-First they built the RR Derwent and Avon 100 and 200, and later the Type-21 and -22, for European military transports.
-Together with Snecma they built the Atar 9C, the CFM-56 and the M-53. Within the European consortium formed by MAN Turbo, today MTU, and FIAT, they manufactured the J-79.

-Under license from Boeing, they made the small auxiliary turbines 531, 551, 553 and 502.
-With Pratt & Whitney they made the F-100 for the F-16 in the Netherlands. As well as the JT9D and the PW-4000.
-FN also produces parts for the TM-333, Marboré, etc., in collaboration with Turbomeca.
-They service all the mentioned material.
From Appendix 7: The well-known factory of weapons, motorcycles and engines, from that that country already saw its engines used in aviation, especially those of motorcycles in the early days.
-In the year 1909, a four-cylinder engine was mounted on the English Fulford plane. See book by M. Goodall (Schiffer).

-In the same book appears a personal helicopter -Black- that used two FN motorcycle engines (although it is also mentioned that it was a 7-cylinder rotary radial, less credible).
