We located a patent for an engine, which stands out for the fact that the propeller is directly fitted on the camshaft instead of the crankshaft.

-More recently the formula has been used by several manufacturers, highlighting Continental, with their "Tiara" models. Although in reality they are not connected to the cam shaft itself, as in the Chauviére case, but to a coupled extension. So the camshaft does not receive the propeller loads in its maneuvers.

-Both do rotate at half crankshaft speed. In fact it is a reduction at a two to one ratio.

-In France, the "Chauviere" name is related with a propeller manufacturer. Maybe it is the same company.
