"Buick Motors Div" from car manufacturer General Motors was involved in building aircraft engines during WWI.
-The US government ordered the production of 8,000 "Liberty" V8 engines, being these the first to receive that name. But only 15 engines of almost 400 hp were made (the V-8's initial power target was only 225 hp).
-It turned out that from the ordered quantity 5,000 units were to be built by Buick-Flint, and the rest (3,000) should be done by Willys-Overland. But the war ended and the just started production was aborted.
