BTH (British Thomson Houston) engine specifications

"British Thomson Houston Co. Ltd." shared with Rover and Power Jets the manufacture of the Whittle engine, the first English operating gas turbine.

-The experimental W1X was built at BTH with parts that were intended for W1 (WU), which was considered unairworthy for initial testing.

-After these tests, which were intensive, they modified combustion chambers and corrected bearing failures. The bearings were unable to withstand the imposed loads. They served essentially to the W1.
