With only two 5-pound ramjet engines, the small personal helicopter of Bensen Aircraft North Carolina, could fly at 60 mph.

-In fact, with the entire apparatus only weighing 100 lbs, it could lift four times its weight. They thought of using it for the military as attack, and to create bridgeheads or drop men behind enemy lines. It is the Mid-Jet.

From appendix 7: Aircraft builder Bensen Aircraft Corp. at Raleigh Durham Airport in North Carolina. developed a small helicopter for military use, the Mid-Jet.

-It was lightweight, easy to use and had small ramjets installed on the tips of the main rotor blades.

-Each engine weighed only 5 pounds (2'3 Kgs approx.) and had no moving parts. They ran with ordinary gasoline or fuel oil. They were able to make the helicopter traveling up to 80 miles per hour.

-It is said that with a thrust of one hundred pounds, the helicopter could raise four times its weight.
