(See also Manly and Stephen Balzer).

This engine was used in Langley's “Aerodrome-A”. It was an interesting rotary engine. Sometimes they were called Balzer/Manly.

-The illustration shows us a cross-section thereof, as well as the connecting-rod couplings. Here we see the cylinder's main rod.

-The reversed-L combustion chamber has the two valves at its end, one actuated (the exhaust) and another automatic (the inlet).

-The following photograph, which is much clearer than those that appear throughout a text as "Belzer", has been taken in the NASM's exhibition hall.

-You can see more details of this engine in the Manly chapter, because he was the person that really designed the Balzer vehicle engines where he worked. He also modified them for installation on the first Langley airplanes.

-Therefore, sometimes these engines are known as Balzer and sometimes as Manly.

-Other information name Balzer as Belzer, but it is Stephen M. Balzer.
