-In 1912 he opened a factory in Nessonvaux-les-Liege, Belgium that he initially named Abadal building cars. They continued with the Imperia brand being the Abadal-Imperias, which later on were also built in Barcelona. They also built the Abadal-Buick.

Francisco Abadal was a great sportsman and a automobilism enthousiastic, known as Paco Abadal in this aerea. He had a tight and sometimes stormy relationship with Birkigt and Mateu (HS). His aviation engine, the Abadal 12Y from 1917/18 had a lot of similarities with the HS engines. We can see that generally in the cylinder blocks, which are those of the V8 from the famous brand.

-It had 12 cylinders in three blocks of four cylinders each, arranged in a "Y". It was water-cooled and geared to the propeller.

-Despite having an inverted cylinder row at the bottom, with a single-engine installation it was protected between the wheels of the landing gear. The propeller does not touch the ground thanks to the superimposed reduction gear.

-It had a displacement of 19 liters and gave 375 cv at 2500 rpm.
