First, an experimental engine based on three Hispano Suiza model 34 cylinder blocks.
-The three four-cylinder blocks were arranged in a Y-shape, giving 160 hp at 1,100 rpm, and 200 hp at 1,200 rpm.
-It was built by the Nagliati engine factory in Milan.
-The illustration is of the rear and highlights the fact that the three carburetors are hanging from the intake manifolds.
-This wasn't a good thing because of the engine pitching due to vibrations, which would put stress on the intake system.
-We can see throughout this publication that initially, in the past, engines were installed directly on the engine bed, most of them made of wood, without the rubber dampers known as "Silentblocs" as they are today.
“Vanni Y-shaped Engine”
-The other engine that was tested had two four-cylinder blocks, one vertically upright and the other inverted.
"Vanni Eight-Cylinder, 2-Stroke"
-It had two crankshafts rotating in opposite directions and, through a gearbox, they drove a single propeller.
-With 250 hp at 2,000 rpm, the propeller rotated at 1,000 rpm.
-It was in 1918 that the 12-cylinder engine was developed, followed by the 8-cylinder vertically opposed 2-stroke engine, which appears in the main text.
-This brand, known as V.N.V, is now also known as Vanni & Trivelloni. Vanni acquired Nagliatti.
