TAYLOR TURBINES

(USA)

The Taylor Turbines Corporation of New York was dedicated to importing engines, especially from England, such as the RR Derwent V and Nene I in order to be tested for manufacturing for the different US armies.

-The company was headed by the Chief Engineer from the Wright Aeronautical Corp.

-The USAF/NAVY had registered the Taylor Turbines company in the late 1940s with the letters “TT”.

-The purchase of the Nene I led to the proposal to make the J-42-TT-2 to equip the Grumman Panther F9F, but due to the company's limited capacity it was resold to P&W.

-P&W in turn bought the license for the Tay, which would become the J-48 for the F9F-5 and F-94C Starfire.
