A 1909 engine called the K-2 produced only 5 HP and was used on the Clark ornithopter, belonging to a watchmaker and bicycle repairman. It never took flight.
From Appendix 10: Around 1907, James Clark used an old 5 HP, two-cylinder internal combustion engine in his ornithopter.
