The aim of this Aeroengines A to Z website is to give information about all the aviation engines that have been made worldwide throughout the history of aviation.
This project began in 1953 when RMV started researching aviation engines in magazines and books. The project has continued uninterrupted until 2025.
You can see that it includes more than 4,000 engine brands, and when it was printed, it comprised over 3,000 double-sided sheets, weighed 10.5 kg, and had a spine over 20 cm thick.
Museums, documentation centers, libraries, bookstores, factories, and workshops were visited.
All this information has been incorporated into the A to Z edition. It is understood that copyrights for older engines have expired, and for some more modern engines, permission is pending. Photos appearing in the text are either negatives or have been submitted with pending permission.
Only by omitting an engine would the purpose of this work be compromised. The response has been overwhelmingly positive.
L'Aeroteca has collaborated with all its resources—space, office equipment, energy, etc.—on a non-profit basis.
The educational and informative value of this work is paramount.
You will see for yourself that the scale of this work is colossal, unique, immense, monumental—in short, Homeric.
